Finance & Strategy Director (Indoor & Urban Gardening)

The Finance & Strategy Lead on the Indoor & Urban Gardening team will report directly to the General Manager of the Indoor & Urban Gardening Business and will be a member of the senior management team. The individual in this role will be a leader inside the business and will need to have an impact beyond their direct scope of responsibility. The Finance & Strategy Lead will be responsible for the total financial and business development strategy for this start-up business. Additionally this position will assist the GM in establishing strategic financial plans, operating policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives.

Key
Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning, Risk Management and Business Development -
Help formulate and communicate the organization's strategy and objectives. Lead business development function by partnering with the Scotts Miracle-Gro Business Development team. Assume a leadership role in the development and evolution risk management and assess the competitive and financial implication of potential strategic initiatives.
Help identify opportunities for strategic partnerships
Lead strategy engagements through all key project deliverables including scoping research, analysis, synthesis and communication.
Lead market assessment, acquisitions strategies and strategic planning projects.
Lead developing quantitative models to support strategic analysis and value creation efforts
Development of the Finance and Strategy Organization -
Assess, develop, recruit and lead talent in finance as well as across the business to build a strong organization and deliver business results.

Financial Planning & Analysis -
Lead the construction of the annual operating plan so that it supports the initiatives of the business serves as a playbook for the growth of the business. Provide financial and business decision leadership support for both on-going business and the development of new opportunities. Ensure management has a deep understanding of the business and can accurately forecast results for both internal and external use.

Accounting and Internal Controls -
Oversees and have final responsibility for all aspects of accounting operations including establishment and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures and ensuring the integrity of the financial data

Sarbanes Oxely -
Ensures compliance with all SEC and regulatory mandates

Minimum
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Strategy, Finance, Accounting or Business from a top academic institution.
10 years experience in Finance roles with increasing responsibilities.
Experience in Private Equity / Business Development roles
Must have 3
years start-up business experience as well as M&A experience
Superior business acumen and judgment
Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Strategy, Finance, Accounting or Business from a top academic institution.
International experience is a plus
