Junior Accountant
JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT
Dejana Industries, Inc. is seeking a Junior Accountant for a fulltime position (with employee benefits) in Port Washington, NY. This is an excellent opportunity to gain an array of finance-related experience with a long established privately-owned group of companies. This general accounting role includes bank account reconciliations; preparation of monthly sales and use tax returns; weekly cash reports and processing various accounts payable and account analyses. Ability to learn and grow as you utilize your current skills and tackle functions which are new to you.
Dejana Industries is a privately owned family of companies in continuous business since 1962 providing a broad array of outdoor services including snow removal, equipment leasing/sales, street sweeping, solid waste collection/disposal and catch basin cleaning for both municipal and commercial customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic, New England, Midwest and as far west as Denver, Colorado. Responsibilities include:
Assist with the monthly general ledger close and the annual audit.
Preparation of monthly Concession Fee, Sales and Use Tax, Fuel Tax and Highway Use tax returns and other statutory filings.
Preparation of daily deposit and the posting of deposits to receivables.
Control and distribution of the accounts payable checks for 2 branch offices in the group.
Day-day general ledger accounting for various real estate entities.
Preparation, posting and entering of journal entries.
Assist with the payment of all sub-contractors.
Position
Qualifications:
An Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required; Bachelor's a plus.
Possess strong attention to detail. A team player.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Solid organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
