1 of 12
Vehicle Description Intro The iconic BMW shark nose e24 6 series was launched in 1976 and replaced the classic e9 CS coupe.
This 1988 BMW M6 was the last year for the 5-speed e24 with only 319 cars produced for the U.
S.
market.
It comes with BBS aftermarket wheels plus numerous other upgrades.
This beautiful example accumulated just 115,000 miles and features a contrasting black and grey color combination.
This M6 is in south central Pennsylvania and has a clear title.
Exterior The exterior paint was previously oxidized from the Arizona sun.
The current owner commissioned a very extensive window and seals out repaint in the original BMW color by a painter trained by BMW in Germany.
A new windshield, a new rear window and all new gaskets and window seals were installed after the repaint.
This M6 body is all original with no reported accidents.
Interior The sumptuous eight-way power seats are hand-stitched grey soft Nappa leather in excellent condition.
The current owner rebuilt the SI board that controls the instrument clusters and installed a $4,000 Alpine stereo system with new amplifier and Focal Speakers.
There is a small crack in the top center of the dashboard highlighted in the pictures.
Suspension The suspension was thoroughly inspected and new Bilstein sport struts, springs, control arms and performance bushings were installed.
The owner replaced the original equipment wheels (included in sale) with BBS Wheels.
Mechanicals The owner recently installed a high-performance clutch and a new water pump.
Any service and preventive service was completed, and this M6 includes a complete service history.
Summary The hand built M88 motor in the M6 is dynamic and shares DNA with the BMW M1.
For a car of the '80s, the M6 had impressive performance.
It could leap from 0-60 mph in 6.
1 seconds and do the quarter mile in 14.
7 seconds.
Top speed was about 140 mph.
The core of the M6's attraction is its magnificent 24-valve, double-overhead-cam, sextuple-throttled 6-cylinder engine.
This M6 was lovingly maintained by a serious collector.
Note Carfax alert 10/21/1992 - not actual mileage is incorrect.
This was an error by a clerk at the North Carolina Motor Vehicle Department.
The odometer on the M6 goes up to 999,000 miles.
It is impossible to drive over a million miles between 2/22/1989 and 10/21/1992.
The mileage shown is accurate and the current owner is working to resolve this error.
